Purchases

- 2006-10-30 20:33:30 [edit]

I've bought more stuffs.

A pair of Sennheiser CX 300 headphones, which after a bit of trouble eventually arrived. I'd ordered them from England because they (along with most other electronics) are ridiculously expensive in Danish shops. I think they are absolutely great. At first they felt a little strange, because I've been used to regular hard plastic in-ear headphones which don't seal at all. The fact that the CX 300s seal as well as they do felt uncomfortable at first, but once I got used to that, I don't know how I ever enjoyed portable music without them. The bass feels like actual bass and everything is so much clearer.

releaseNephew - Interkom kom ind, which I believe is also pretty darn good. I quite like the heavy doses of 80s that Nephew puts in their music, and this new album is every bit as good as their breakthrough (but not debut) album USADSB. It seems like they're not at all concerned with writing lyrics that make sense (even less so than with USADSB), but that's fine with me as long as the music is as effect full as it is.

releaseKaizers Orchestra - Live at Vega. A n apparently brilliant live concert, which is captured just about as well as you can hope for when trying to cram a tightly packed concert into a 12-cm disc of polycarbonate plastic.

A double-pack DVD set including Fight Club and Mr. & Mrs. Smith. I bought it primarily for Fight Club and I have yet to see either film (I've seen Fight Club previously though).

Yes, I see you spamming. No, it will not get displayed. You're wasting your time. Bugger off.

Lots of stuff happened lately

- 2006-07-19 20:42:00 [edit]

Stuff that happened Sunday 9th

Yes, I admit my predictions for the Italy-France match weren't exactly stunningly accurate. Though I will say that Italy did did have a goal anulled slightly before the 20 minute mark that was slightly like the first one. That said, it looked more like France was going to take the match for most of the game after the halftime, including most of the overtime, so I was pretty far off being right.

After the match ended, I decided in a fit of momentary madness to shave off most of my hair. If anyone reading this does not know me personally, you wouldn't know, but my hair used to be about 20cm, and it is now roughly 13mm, so you can probably imagine the scale of that operation. I'm pretty happy with how it turned out, and I'm told that it doesn't look half bad.

Stuff that happened Wednesday 12th

On Wednesday I had another mad impulse and decided to clean out in the huge amounts of unneeded crap I had accumulated over the last couple of years. Most of it was old computer parts (1GB harddisks, a 66MHz DX4 etc.) but some other generic mish-mash went out as well. On top of that, I threw out a lot of clothes that no longer fit me. All in all, I ended up getting rid of roughly a metric ton of useless junk.

Stuff that happened Sunday 16th

On Sunday, my father and I went to Ry and went kayaking on the lakes of Silkeborg and after a night in a campsite we went on to follow Gudenåen ending up at Kongensbro. It was a very nice trip with gorgeous weather and the nature on those parts is beautiful as well. Heartily recommended.

Stuff that happened today

Today, the Danish postal serviced paid me a welcome visit to drop off a couple of crates worth of stuff:The shoes and tank tops fit me and the printer Just Worked™ both in Windows and Ubuntu.

The wireless router is proving to be a bit of a struggle, however, but that's might be my own fault more than anything else. The package included a printed copy of the GPL though, which is cool.

I lost internet access due to a power cut at my ISP, and wrote this offline for later posting. I called them and they estimated about 4 hours of no internet, which annoyed me much. It should be noted that the internet returned at 1337 o'clock which was not quite 4 hours after it went.

On another note, I should probably be writing and posting here more frequently.

World cup update

- 2006-07-09 20:53:41 [edit]

Writing this in the halftime of the final. As the score is now 1-1, my previous prediction (1-0 in Italy's favour) is obviously not going to work out.

Updated prediction: Italy scores another goal in the first 20 minutes, similar to the first one (high ball in the box headed in) and wins 2-1.

House-sitting

- 2006-07-09 00:18:29 [edit]

The last week has been very uneventful. I've been living in my parents' house since last friday. They were going on vacation, and their wishes of having someone to look after the house and water their plants mixed well with my wishes of getting a bit of fresh air and lying in the sun.

So I've basically just been doing nothing but lying down and watching television all week. Tomorrow they come home, and I'll go home as well.

Now the World Cup is nearly over, luckily the Tour de France is just getting started, so it all works out in the end, and I have some sport to waste my time on.

For the World Cup final, I predict a 0-1 win for Italy over France. I'm sure history will come back to bite me in the ass on that.

As for the Tour de France, I have absolutely no predictions. All bets are off by now, with everyone considered a favourite before the Tour, no longer riding. If I had to mention a name, I guess it'd be Klöden, but I'd be unable to tell you why.

I've been working on an updated version of the journal, which will feature commenting and some sort of file-attachments (that means pictures, I guess). It's going to look absolutely the same though, I'm afraid.

That's all for now.
